Being a part of MLC is one small way that I can contribute to positive land stewardship and keeping my community healthy and whole.
Having grown up in the Cortez area on a farm, I couldn’t wait to get to college and a different life. After a degree from Colorado State University in Marketing, I joined the Peace Corps and went to Sierra Leone, West Africa. After two years as a swamp rice extension agent, I returned home and got a degree in International Agriculture Development from the University of California – Davis. That sent me on a 12-year adventure, working across the world in micro-finance, refugee relief and return programs. After Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Angola and Indonesia, I came back home to be near family and settle down. I am now co-owner and Vice President of Southwest Seed, growing and selling native grasses and wildflowers for land restoration. Helping people enhance and protect their land in a wide variety of ways motivates me every day in my work and my values.
