Plein Air Art Gathering

MLC’s Next Generation Advisory Board will host a Plein Air art gathering on Sunday, April 19th. Those registered for the event will meet at Boyle Park in Mancos at 10:30am and will arrive carpool to one of MLC’s conservation easement properties by 11am. Upon arrival, the group will have a brief introduction to the space and an opportunity to hear the landowner share about the history of their property and inspiration for conserving the 80 acres just south of the town of Mancos. Attendees will have from then until 1:30 to paint, sketch, photograph, write, or create whatever art they feel inspired to. There are a few suggested spots for the views of Mesa Verde and the La Plata Mountains. The group will depart by 1:50pm and return to Boyle Park.

You do not need to have an easel or be any specific type of artist to participate in this gathering. Please contact andier@montezumaland.org if you would like to participate and would need access to community art supplies, as some paints, brushes, pencils, drawing charcoal sticks and paper will be available. It is suggested that all attendees bring some kind of sturdy surface to paint or draw or write on.

Attendees should be prepared for whatever weather conditions we may get – it could be cold and breezy or warm and sunny. Please come with any snacks, water, sun protection, or other items you will need to be comfortable for 2+ hours of being outside.
