Have you considered including Montezuma Land Conservancy in your estate planning? By naming Montezuma Land Conservancy in your will, or by designating Montezuma Land Conservancy as a beneficiary through other planned giving instruments, you are helping to create a legacy of protected lands. Contact us today and let us help you make a permanent gift that will benefit you, your family, and future generations. Here are two examples of how you can give:

Outright Gifts

Cash or Pledged Gifts

When asked, doors usually respond by writing a check. They may, however choose to make commitments over a period of time. For gifts up to $1000, that period is usually one year. For larger gifts, stretching payments over multiple years can increase the size of the gift or extend its tax advantages.

Marketable securities held long term are becoming a very popular way to make gifts. Such gifts of appreciated property can have an immediate impact on Montezuma Land Conservancy projects and also create an immediate income tax deduction for you based on their current value. And, because there is no capital gains tax when you make the gift, you save on taxes twice.

Real Estate

Real estate, which can be used for either an outright or planned gift, can offer favorable tax benefits. Real estate gifts are reviewed by a committee of the Board of Directors to assure they will be usable by Montezuma Land Conservancy.

Personal Property

Giving personal property such as equipment, vehicles or works of art is yet another way to help Montezuma Land Conservancy.

Planned Gifts

A gift of cash or property made through a will or living trust continues your tradition of giving.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

By placing assets in a charitable trust, you or your designated beneficiary can enjoy lifetime income from the trust and tax benefits at the same time. Upon termination of the trust the remainder goes to Montezuma Land Conservancy.

Charitable Gift Annuities

In exchange for a gift of cash, marketable securities or – in some cases – real estate, Montezuma Land Conservancy will contractually guarantee to pay you and/or your beneficiary a specified annuity. The annuity can be immediate or deferred and can provide substantial income and estate tax benefits.

Charitable Lead Trusts

A charitable lead trust provides for a gift of an income interest to Montezuma Land Conservancy from property placed in the land trust for a term of years, after which the property reverts to you or a non-charitable beneficiary you designate.

Life Insurance

With Montezuma Land Conservancy named owner and beneficiary of a paid-sup insurance policy, Montezuma Land Conservancy gains support and you receive a charitable deduction.
