Tanner Besse

Fozzie's Farm Operations Manager

Tanner was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and moved to the Southwest to get a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Conservation and Adaptation, Sociology Minor, and a Regenerative Food Systems Certificate at Fort Lewis College. While Tanner attended college, they gained a passion for food systems. Their first introduction to agriculture was the Farmer-in-Training program at the Old Fort in Hesperus, and after spending two years growing at the Old Fort and one year at Twin Buttes Farm, he will now be stewarding the land at Fozzie’s Farms!

Tanner is the President of the Southwest Colorado Young Farmers Coalition with the hope of building strong agricultural communities. Spending one season with the Good Food Collective, distributing CSA’s to healthcare workers, they noticed the joy that food and farms can bring to people. They are eager to continue cultivating hope and joy, while tending to the land.

Outside of the farm, Tanner is a queer artist, and you can expect to find them humming away at the sewing machine, working mainly with secondhand material, exploring the endless world of sewing and creating one-of-a-kind garments. He also loves to cook, paddle board, drink tea and sit in the sun with his cat Quinoa!
