Gifts of Stocks, Bonds, or Mutual Funds
Gifts of stock, bonds, or mutual funds are a great way to support Montezuma Land Conservancy’s work and can additionally help a donor avoid capital gains taxes or receive an income tax deduction.
Simply authorize your broker to transfer shares to Montezuma Land Conservancy.

Upon successful transfer, please notify us, or have your broker notify us, of the stock gift description to ensure receipt and acknowledgment. Generally, all publicly traded securities and commodities will be sold upon receipt in order to immediately support our programs and operations.

Join MLC's Sandstone Circle, Our Legacy Giving Circle
MLC’s “Sandstone Circle” is a collection of forward-thinking donors joined together by their commitment to leaving a lasting legacy that will ensure MLC’s community-centered land conservation work will continue and remain strong for generations to come.
Sandstone Circle members have chosen to support MLC through a significant legacy gift, made during their lifetime or at their passing, as part of their financial or estate planning. Legacy gifts may take the form of cash, appreciated stocks or securities, real estate, business interests, highly valued personal property, life insurance, retirement plans, or others. Such gifts secure the future of MLC’s work as more critical landscapes are conserved in perpetuity and the organization continues to grow its mission and programs. Not only that, planned gifts often come with significant tax benefits to the donor.

Donations of Real Estate
A donation of property can be considered a tax-deductible gift and may be an opportunity to further support the mission of conservation, land access, or community-centered programs.
Landowners considering a gift of real estate are encouraged to reach out to Montezuma Land Conservancy to discuss their visions for the property and ways in which it may support the mission of the conservancy now, or in the future.
IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
Donors over the age 70 ½ can make donations directly from their IRA accounts to Montezuma Land Trust (MLC) without having to pay income taxes on the money.
Simply speak with your IRA account administrator about making a transfer to earn tax benefits and support MLC.
Donor Advised Funds
Donor Advised Funds
A Donor Advised Fund, or DAF, is a charitable investment account from which you can recommend grants be made to Montezuma Land Conservancy and receive a federal income tax charitable deduction.
DAF donors who commit to spending down half of their DAF funds in a given year can have the opportunity of their donations being doubled when they register their contribution with #HalfMyDAF.

Many companies will incentivize their employees to contribute to charitable organizations such as Montezuma Land Conservancy through gift-matching programs, making your donation go twice as far!

Frequently Asked Questions
In general, cash gifts in any form, marketable securities, and most forms of planned gifts will be accepted. Gifts of Fee Interest in Real Estate for charitable, not conservation, purposes, including developed property, undeveloped property, and gifts subject to a prior life interest, will only be accepted upon review and recommendation by the Montezuma Land Conservancy (MLC) Board.
Relevant in-kind gifts of goods or services, as well as tangible personal property, including auction items donated for fundraising events, art and collectibles, motor vehicles, copyrights, and other intellectual property, are generally accepted, though MLC will sell all tangible and intangible property that it cannot readily use in its exempt activities or for fundraising as soon as reasonably practical.
Other gifts not discussed above will be reviewed and will be subject to approval by the MLC Board. Please contact us if you have questions about a certain type of intended gift.
