Travis Custer
Executive Director
Travis has a deep passion for the power of connecting people to land and exploring the diverse stories of how land weaves itself through the human experience. He has been involved with non-profit and community-based work for over 15 years with a diverse background in nonprofit management, leadership, agriculture, ecology, education, and social and environmental justice.
As executive director of the Montezuma Land Conservancy, Travis has advanced MLC’s community-centered conservation initiatives through its education center Fozzie’s Farm and partnership with the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.
Travis is a recognized leader in the land trust community working with the Land Trust Alliance and other partners to help support and advance the land trust community around the country. He currently serves on the board of directors for Keep It Colorado, a statewide coalition for land trusts, where he is the current chair for the organization’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) committee.
When he’s not working for the conservancy Travis enjoys spending time outside exploring the desert, rivers, and mountains of the Southwest. Above all else, Travis is the father of an amazing son, Eddy, and takes pride in learning and teaching alongside his son where they work together to co-create better versions of themselves.
