Birds & Habitat: An Exploration of Conservation & Birding

May 3
7:00 am
- 12:00 pm

Spring migration is here! Join MLC’s Next Generation Advisory Board for a special visit to one of our newest conserved properties located on the West Fork of the Dolores River. The visit will include a brief talk on best birding practices, information about the conserved property, a discussion about conservation’s role in protection of habitat and species, and of course some time to walk around and see what birds we can find! Loaner binoculars will be available for those who do not have their own. Transportation will be provided from Cortez and Dolores.

The walk on the property will be on uneven and unpaved terrain. Sturdy closed-toed shoes and long pants are suggested.

Schedule:

7:10am – Meet in Cortez and load into MLC’s van

7:30am – Second meeting pickup option in Dolores

8:30-10:30am – Birding and walk on the conserved property on the West Fork

11:15am – Van returns for drop-off in Dolores

11:30am – Drop-off in Cortez

Pre-registration is required and spots are limited due to parking limitations. SIGN UP AT THIS LINK.

This is a free event, though contributions from non-MLC members are appreciated. Membership starts at just $30 per year! Donations may be made on our Donate page.
