Rural Getaway and Bison Ranch Tour

Are you ready for a vacation and new adventures but don’t want to spend a long time traveling? MLC has the raffle package for you! Our spring raffle includes two nights at Mountain Chickadee Ranch in Hesperus, CO, a private tour of a holistic bison farm and a $50 gift card to Kennebec Cafe. This would be a great vacation for a couple or a small family.
Mountain Chickadee Ranch is a small ranch with a beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with luxurious but comfortable finishes. The house hosts a beautiful chefs kitchen, breathtaking views of the La Plata Mountains, a covered porch with a swing, a private master suite, a play/reading room for “kids” of all ages and a great fenced outdoor area. Mountain Chickadee Ranch is on 20 acres at the end of a dead end road for maximum privacy and is surrounded by Gleason Bison Ranch. You can stay on the farm and enjoy world class birding out your back door or enjoy a leisurely stroll down the quiet country road. The ranch is only 15 minutes to Kennebec Cafe, 20 minutes to hiking and fishing in La Plata Canyon and 30 minutes to Durango or New Mexico. You will have no shortage of things to do.
Sarah Gleason, owner and manager of Gleason Bison Ranch, will give you a private tour. You will see these animals “up close” and will learn how the ranch is holistically managed. Located where the high desert of the Colorado Plateau meets the soaring peaks of the San Juan Mountains, Gleason Bison is a holistically managed, grass-fed bison operation committed to serving our community, regenerating our environment, and producing thriving animals. Their desire is to weave together the relationship between the animals, the environment, and the community resulting in an intimate knowledge of where your meat comes from and the essential role the animals play in creating a healthy ecosystem.
The raffle also includes a $50 gift card to the delicious and classy, Kennebec Cafe. Enjoy a nice dinner out or a tasty brunch at this local favorite.
Ready to buy your ticket? Tickets are, $10 for one ticket, $50 for 8 tickets and $100 for 20 tickets plus the PayPal fee (2.9% + $.30) which we are required by the state to charge back to the customer.
Raffle Fine Print: The raffle is being run by the Montezuma Land Conservancy Board of Directors License # 2021-16650. Ticket sales close on Friday, April 30 at 5pm. The raffle will be drawn at the MLC office (216 W Montezuma Ave, Cortez, CO) at 10am on Monday, May 3 and will be recorded via Facebook Live from the MLC page. You do not need to be present virtually or physically to win. The winner will be contacted and also posted on this website after the drawing.
The winner will be given the contact information to reserve dates at Mountain Chickadee Ranch. Winners are encouraged to reach out and secure dates as soon as possible. This package is available starting May 1, 2021.
