“Spin Off are informal groups of sheep herders and wool/fiber enthusiasts that meet monthly to exchange knowledge about sheep herding, hands on learning of new fiber art techniques and anything that connects to the Navajo pastoral lifeway. Communities learn various topics of involving wool, hand carding, wool spinning, felting, wool dyeing, to Navajo weaving and many more.” (Roy Kady, Fiber Artist)
Schedule:
8-8:15am – Introduction to Fozzie’s Farm
8:15-10am – Harvesting of a live sheep according to Navajo tradition
10-11am – Showing of film “A Gift from Talking God” w. Q&A w/ Roy Kady
11am-12pm – Navajo Churro Wool Usage w. Roy Kady (Fiber Artist) (On-going presentation)
12-1pm – Lunch (Navajo Traditional Cuisine)
1-2pm – Felting w. Navajo Churro Sheep Wool with Benjamin (Sheep Herder) (On-going presentation)
2-3pm – “A Weaving Journey” w. Tyrrell Tapaha (6th Generation Textile Weaver) (On-going presentation)
3-4pm – Weaving a Horse Cinch w. Christopher Francis (Roy’s Apprentice) (On-going presentation)
4-5pm – Sharing & Socializing
