Member Archaeology Tour at CANM
9:00 am - 5:00 pm
MLC Members* are invited to join us for a guided exclusive tour of a remote Indigenous rock art panel within Canyon of the Ancients National Monument that is accessible via special entry through a private land conservation easement in Yellow Jacket Canyon.
Due to the remoteness of the site, this will be a full day tour with a long drive. We will meet at the MLC office in Cortez in the morning, carpool the approximately 2-hour drive to the site in a MLC vehicle, spend a couple hours learning about and exploring the area, and returning back by mid to late afternoon. Depending on road conditions we will either be able to drive right up to the site or within one mile of it. Aside from that possibility, hiking required on this tour will be minimal.
Attendees should wear sturdy closed-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a sack lunch and plenty of water. MLC will provide some trail snacks as well.
Space is very limited so sign up soon! Complete details and logistics will be communicated to registered participants as the event gets closer.
*This event is reserved for MLC Members only (those who have made a gift of $30 or more to MLC in the past twelve months). If you are not yet a member, you can become one simply by making your contribution today on our Donate page.
