Planting Day at Road 39

Volunteers needed! On Saturday, October 24 from 9am to 1pm, MLC and our partners in the Traditional Harvest Project will be hosting our final planting day on the County Road 39 Restoration Project on the Mancos River.
Schedule:
- 9am – Coffee and snacks, project orientation, and divide into work groups.
- 9:30am – 11:45am – Planting!
- 12-12:30 – Hydrology educational lesson from Mountain Studies Institute about the low-tech process-based restoration practices that have gone into this multi-year project.
- 12:30 – Prize drawing featuring items from Osprey Packs, HydroFlask, MLC, and more.
This project aims to strengthen native plant communities on properties in the Mancos Valley that are open to cultural access and traditional harvesting by members of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. Seedlings transplanted will enhance habitat and support Tribal community plant material needs used for ceremonies, celebrations, food, and medicine.
Coffee, snacks and all needed materials will be provided. Volunteers should bring their own full water bottles, sun protection, layers, and a pair of work gloves if you have them. Long pants and sturdy shoes or water-resistant boots are highly recommended.
